Subject: Response to your voicemail re: The Facebook From: Tom Sherman Date: Fri, 15 Apr 2005 23:33:05 -0500 To: m-weldon@[domain removed] Dear Michele, I received your voicemail this afternoon regarding my blog entry about the controversy involving you, Medill freshmen, and The Facebook. To be frank, I don't understand what you're asking of me. I don't understand which comments on my site are ofeending you, and I definitely don't understand which ones you're picking out as sexually offensive. I gather from a sampling of your work online that you are rather media savvy; I think you can appreciate, then, that my blog entry was actually rather tame in its tone. It's true that I wasn't in your class, and perhaps I don't have "the full story." I've read what was printed in the Daily, which seems to be the only information online about it. If you'd like to tell me the full story, I'm willing to listen. However, I must make it clear that my entry has little to do with you and much more to do with the stance you've taken against private expression on a student-oriented website. I can't condone that, particularly as a NU alum. I should mention that I've found your comments in the wake of this story rather disturbing. I was particularly unsettled by your assertion that, "(The Facebook) may be your generation's mode of communication, but my generation still controls the consequences." Big Brother is indeed watching. Regards, Tom -- Tom Sherman
