Not only is it good if your hard drive in your TiVo dies, but it would also come in handy when upgrading to a new TiVo unit. Imagine bringing home that brand new HD Series 3 TiVo and all you have to do is connect it to a phone line or your network and it would automatically set itself up and download all your settings!
