ESPN fantasy baseball homepage

ESPN.com pisses me off. I’ve noted this previously.

I’m in a fantasy baseball league on ESPN.com this year, and all I wanted to do was get to my league’s homepage. So I went to ESPN.com. Then I went to the fantasy area. Couldn’t find it. Then I figured out I hadn’t logged in (this was not particularly obvious). Then I couldn’t find my league. Went to the fantasy home again. Nothing. Went to fantasy baseball homepage. Nothing. Back. And forth.

Finally, I found it. Take a look at the screenshot below (click for larger version) and see if YOU can find my league.

This is my seventh year with yahoo for my fantasy baseball league. The first six years have been good. And this year, yahoo has so dramatically improved the process to enter draft results. I was literally peeing my trousers in excitement.

I feel it sticks out fairly obviously, but I guess the kicker was that it was listed under the “Your Teams” section.

Tell me, Chad… was it the light gray background that caught your eye, or the non-underlined, 10px verdana links? I also like the prominence of “Create/Join League” (above my existing league(s), which might be, you know, more important).

I suppose for me the color of the box pops against the “vanilla” colored background. The teams box is the only area of the page where the gray appears so I guess it’s much easier to spot. That, and it’s been my experience that fantasy teams are generally listed on the right hand side of the page. I will agree with you that the fantasy page itself needs an overhaul though.

Blame my boss — he’s running the league. :)

Overall, though, I really like the way Yahoo designs their interfaces — maybe even more than Google. ESPN is freaking horrible. Not a fan of Microsoft sites, either.

No offense meant in the earlier post, by the way. Guess it just doesn’t bother me the way the page is designed.

Has your boss agreed to be a good sport about it should your team destroy his?

Nah, you didn’t offend me, I was just being a dick.

My boss will be cool about it, definitely. I just took his money in the NCAA pool! But this is my first year of FB and I don’t expect to win.

I’d recommend Zack de la Rocha. I see him doing big things this season.

Also, Special K w/ Red Berries >>> Honey Bunches of Oats w/ Strawberries. And they’re BOGO @ the Jewel, your favorite. But only through April 12. Hurry back, asshole.

Someone in one of my fantasy leagues told me how ESPN has really dropped the ball with this fantasy stuff.

I did a google search and only found your blog complaining… has it been fixed? Lemme know… I think we’re gonna talk about it on this week’s podcast.
