A brief message to the person who jacked up my car at 3 o’clock in the morning, removed the lug nuts from the passenger-side wheel, took the wheel (presumably to replace a damaged wheel on his own Scion TC), and left my 3-wheeled car for me to discover at 8:20 a.m. this morning

Thank you for leaving the lug nuts from the stolen wheel in a neat pile next to the wheel drum.

It was quaint and really quite thoughtful, and I must say that having those lug nuts simplified matters for me today.

no wheel!

srsly. people do some fucked up shit to each other’s automobiles in this city.

Damn man, that sucks. When I bought a new vehicle, I opted for the crap wheels and just purchased after market. Those require a special “key” to get the lug nuts off.

Chad has a good idea. The “locked” nuts mean the thief now has to steal your entire car to get your wheels. :-o

Seems, like one of those “it could be worse” situations.

You both end up happy. The thief avoids the ethical and legal (think of a Judge saying “grand theft auto”) problems of stealing the whole car. And you’re left with a $300 task to angrily complete. The thief probably has very little risk of ever getting caught.

I’ve got the tire with me. I’ll return it later today.

Nice car you have there, sir. :D

Clearly it was just a thug wanting a sweet hubcap but was too chicken to commit a real crime and make things really inconvenient for the victim.

That’s like stealing a bunch of stuff from a house and putting everything back neatly when you’re done.

Dude - that sucks. Another reason to not have a car in the city, and another arguement for me selling my car…

p.s. - Good to see that the Google Ads are right on the money… currently there is an ad for “Wheel Locks”

I had the same thing happen to me! Someone stole my front left wheel…. 12 hours after I bought the car!! Thankfully, the jerk put it up on a cinder block so that the rocker panel was damaged as well. Needless to say, I bought some wheel locks the next day.

Honestly the wheels for that car are expensive. If my TC had a flat I probably would have taken your tire too. Luckily I still have my spare.

At least they only took one.
