Rave: Grossinger car dealership and Scion

I do a lot of bitching, moaning, and complaining about companies on the jotsheet, so it’s only fair that I throw in a rave once in a while. Grossinger and Scion have been excellent to me.

Like many Americans who don’t know jack about cars, I suffer from an instinctual fear of getting ripped off at the car dealership. I have no idea what the technical jargon means. I don’t know how much things should cost. And I’m not very good at bargaining.

I avoided the last concern by buying a Scion. Like Saturn, they have a no-haggle policy. Everything has a price: the car, the warranties, the add-ons. It’s all laid out in a menu. This was perfect for me, since I’m thrifty and rational but bad at haggling.

The second enjoyable part of my car buying experience was the dealership itself. Yeah, it’s kinda unbelievable, but they treated me well. They were efficient and honest during the sale, and I really liked the salesman, Tom Galloway (no idea if he still works there, but this guy liked him too).

I’ve also stuck with them for service. Like the no-haggle policy on sales, Scion has a no-haggle policy on service. All dealers must post their prices for scheduled maintenance on their websites. It’s easy to shop around, and Grossinger North is significantly cheaper than other dealerships in Chicago. They were courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient at servicing my car–much more than I can say for that shitty dealership in Evanston.

All in all, I heartily recommend Grossinger Scion. They have several locations, but I go to the Lincolnwood dealership, which is a quick stop off the Edens (I-94).
