Soccer refs are the scum of the earth
I just watched the 1-1 tie of the U.S. and Italy in the 2006 World Cup. I’m left to conclude one thing: soccer refs are the scum of the earth.
The ref, some clown named Jorge Larrionda, ejected 3 players: one Italian and two Americans. Both red cards on the Americans were utterly undeserved. This ass-clown of a ref ruined everything. RateTheRef says his hobbies include “breeding animals.” Insert joke here.
I’m well aware that baseball, football, and basketball has bad refs, too. In fact, the more subjective the calls in a sport, the worse the refs—i.e. the more they can screw up. Football refs are fine, and I don’t mind the NFL’s at all. MLB umpires are hit-or-miss. NBA refs (Steve Javie?!) are pretty horrible. But these futbol guys are TERRIBLE.
Here’s my new analogy. Remember the Bible? Yeah? Well, soccer refs are the modern-day equivalent of the tax collectors.

One of the U.S. red cards was deserved, the other probably not. In any event, the U.S. side was vastly inferior, and if anything the ref’s intervention helped them scrape out a tie.
So, “ruined everything“? Um, no.
Oh, and of course you didn’t mention that the U.S. goal was scored for it by an Italian on his own goal.

Ransom, what are you smoking? How could ejections for two Americans “help them scrape out a tie”? And does it matter that the Italians scored the only U.S. goal? That right there would make them the vastly inferior side in most books…

What?s your problem?, anyway you would’ve been eliminated sooner or later, “soccer” is not a sport for you people. You should keep on playing baseball and all that shit you invent ’cause you ain’t good enough to play a sport like football or ruby, real men sports.

Tom, I like you man but it is obvious you don’t understand the beauty of a sport like soccer. It is true sometimes refs suck but it is also part of the whole thing, it would be a crap if refs could re view the play on a tv screen and call it back. And as the “bitch dives” it is the strateggy of poor quality teams, real shity teams that don?t deserve to be in a world cup. Add to this, shity teams are also the ones that the only thing they can do is tackling and hiting and that?s where the red card must be shown to prevent an injure to a decent soccer player

Well, there needs to be a penalty for taking a dive. They need to truly enforce the yellow card for dives. Obviously they don’t. There is zero incentive not to take a dive.
Basketball has the same problem — offensive fouls vs. defensive fouls — but at least they actually CALL offensive fouls.

the refs these day r nothing but losers. in the whole world cup the refs did nothing but shit on the australian team. do the refs even no how to ref coz the calls they have made through the world cup are shit. so if any refs see this msg u suck
