psst.. this blog is on hiatus.

Shaving should be easier

It occurred to me today that shaving should be easier. Every days, billions of men spend between three and ten minutes shaving. This process it not particularly efficient.

Think about it. Gillette spent over a billion dollars on the Mach3 razor. That’s one billion freaking dollars on R&D and initial marketing push. From the horse’s mouth:

Gillette spent more than $750 million in manufacturing capital and research and development to bring MACH3™ - the first and only shaving system with three progressively aligned blades to provide men with a closer shave in fewer strokes with less irritation - to market. The Company is investing more than $300 million to bring the message of MACH3’s superior performance to consumers worldwide.

NashvilleKnifeShop has shaving sets as well as straight razors and safety razors. Find these, as well as shaving sets and skin care products.

I have one reaction: so? Think about shaving today versus shaving 20 years ago. How about shaving today versus shaving 2000 years ago? We’ve got companies spending billions and my faced is still nicked up.

Basically, I want some kinda super duper laser machine that I can pass over my skin and be done with this facial hair thing in about 5 seconds every morning. IS THAT TO MUCH TO ASK? Hot damn, we can put a man on the moon but we can’t have a laser shaving system? We can put a digital copy of the Library of Congress on a chip the size of my nostril but we can’t get me a better shaving system? WHY CAN’T WE SURPASS THE ROMANS?

k i’m done

Shaving is the worst–it takes too much time; you can cut yourself; and you have to do it far too often. What an effing drag.

    Have you seen Wiskerino?

We are alienated from our own facial hair.

Society tells us that full beards are unacceptable. Businessmen, politicians, bankers, and the like are all clean shaven; all demonstrating the standards that middle class society expects us to maintain.

In other words, these are all examples of “the man” keeping down nascent beards everywhere. These are the people that alienate us from our masculinity, forcing us to shave and adopt public personas which might not reflect our own true inner animal.

    It’s brilliant.

I have an answer for an existing alternative- WAX.
Sure it may hurt like hell, but you won’t have to do it again for weeks.

Mary waxing can be very painful for alot of people. And constantly buying all the heavily marketed shavers can get expensive.

When did and WHY did shaving have to become this super expensive (in the long run if you actually keep track of the associated expenses as well such as shaving creams, antibiotic oitments, hot water etc, etc,) deal? It’s only shaving. it’s not rocket science.

For me and my leg hair removal needs I invested in a dry shaver and it works for me.

I get minimal expense and a good shave.
