I was a Sox fan on the North Side.
In 1959, I had my Nellie Fox bat and Sox Cap.

But unless it's a City Series, I root for the Cubs too.
Except for the DH rule in the AL, I still prefer the Sox. Jim Thome and Greg Luzinski notwithstanding.

I was appalled when a friend was rooting for the Astros against the Sox.
Serves him right. Cheaters proof.

It's still a Chicago team. You may not like Hockey, but do you root for the Red Wings against the 'Hawks?

So I'm rooting for the Cubs.

Next year - Sox vs. Cubs in the World Series? THEN I can root against the Cubs. And still be true to my hometown.

hey dude....
alou very well could have caught the ball but it got screwed up.......thats the bottom line how about you give some compassion to the cubs rather than picking apart my good friend tom's argument.

hmmm, i seem the logic of your overall comparison, and it's true. But the details of your comparison fall apart, because
A) Alou could not very well dive into the crowd to catch his ball.
B) Uribe's catch was at an opposing team's ballpark, so it's not like he had the chance for some idiot sox fan to interfere.
C) Instead it was the Astros fans that let their team down. They didn't interfere when they had the very chance to make a difference in the game.
