Dry cleaning removes stains

Just about every day of the week, I wear the typical business casual uniform of khakis and a polo shirt to work. I’m inventive. Normally a fastidious person, I have an strange problem with my polo shirts: I’m forever staining them. Some food here, something else there. It’s annoying.

I had about five (5) of these stained polo shirts crumpled up in the corner of my apartment. They sat there for about six (6) months collecting dust. I thought about throwing them away. Then I had a better idea: how about dry cleaning!

I hauled my stained polo shirts to the dry cleaners and dropped them off. They offered no guarantees. But in a few days, I picked them up, and guess what? The stains were mostly gone! Dry cleaning is a modern-day miracle. I had no idea humanity had such amazing technology at its fingertips! I pretty much thought that once a shirt was stained, it was a goner. Guess what? Not so! Dry cleaners have special, magical chemicals and magical machines that are like kryptonite to stains!

Dry cleaning technology is about as breathtaking to me as the the Hubble telescope.

In summary, dry cleaning is awesome and should be commended overall as a great service to humanity.

p.s. This post is dedicated to dry cleaning.

Many centuries ago humans developed a fine piece of technology called a “plate.” I think they are cheaper than dry cleaning and have many other practical applications.

Hey Tom, they also make various stain removers that work well with regular washing, like Spay ‘N Wash. But, you’ve got to actually wash the clothes within a couple days of applying in, so maybe that won’t work for you.

Hm. “Within a few days of applying” could be a problem.

Maybe you should invest in a drop cloth or bib? They are also very cheap and can go anywhere with you, to the movies to prevent choc bomb melting moments, out for italian to avoid tomato and wine based suss stains, and even to the office to combat that cup missing mouth action you seem to be affected by with your early morning coffees?

I think the solution lies with finding a reliable dry cleaner in your area. Forget the plates. For instance, my Los Angeles dry cleaner is fantastic at stain-removal… especially Polo shirts. ;-)
