Hit count blues
I care far too much about my hit count. It’s so stupid. Every day, I check my web stats to see how many visitors I had yesterday, how I’m doing for “tara reid boob” and “lindsay lohan skinny” searches, and whether any other bloggers have linked me. My obsession with my site stats is on par with my need for a cup of joe in the morning. It’s pathetic.
Hence my fretting. My hit count, or rather my unique hosts count, has been plummeting in the past week. I don’t really know why. A big reason is that I’m not getting nearly as many hits from Google Images. (Actually, I could take or leave the hits from Google Images; they’re mostly junk hits and bandwidth intensive to boot.) Still, the Google Images dropoff doesn’t explain the decline entirely. I don’t know. It’s killing me.
At the same time, my Intarweb buds over at OrangeCoat got out of Google’s mysterious sandbox. Bravo!

What i’m more obssessive about is how many comments I get on my site. Hits hits. It’s fun to look at numbers, but what is more valuable is real concrete thoughts. Yeah, so there are x-number uniques a month or whatever, but what good is that number when there isn’t any connection?

I think it’s just an early summer lull. People are out jogging and boating instead of searching the internet for Tara Reid’s nipple and the skinny Lindsay-Lohan-Gollum doppelganger.

(btw, thanks for the sandbox help and the reference above)
