Back from Europe
I’m alive! I’m back from Euroland. And I brought photos and gummi bears!
It’s strange; after writing in a journal during my trip and doing a lot of thinking, I don’t have the energy to analyze or write about it in retrospect now. I suppose I’ll just leave that aside and blog it when the desire hits me. For now, check out the photos, which do tell one side of the story. I’ll be around in a bit to tell the other.

The Zyklon B “Showers” are disturbing. Preservation of holocaust artifacts in general is disturbing. I mean, we needn’t forget about the whole episode, but I’d hate to be a German working the front desk at Dachau.

There’s an interesting generation gap in Germany when it comes to thoughts about the concentration camps. Younger Germans (<40 or so) often visit the memorials, but older Germans can’t understand why tourists want to “live in the past” and visit a “place of death.”
