Scenes of the subway
I’ve often thought about creating a more focused blog, one where I would write only about a certain topic or topics. It would be much easier to attract a regular readership. I think I would write either about:
- Commercials I hate, or
- Weird stuff I see on the train and at the grocery store.
The problem with #1 is that I think some other similar blogs already exist, and they’re probably better than mine would be. Blogs in the vein of #2 probably exist as well, although I don’t know of any Chicago-specific ones.
Anyhow, while I’m on this subject, I stumbled across an interesting NYC subway moblog, where the author takes pictures of the scenes he sees daily. For whatever reason, my commute on the “L” never fails to put me in an observant, philosophical, intense mood, so this moblog appeals to me. See e.g. his post about a NYC Commuter “Tough.”
UPDATE 4/13/05: Chiba from SubText pointed me to a Chicago-oriented entry on the normally NYC SubText.

If you want focused readership, then a single topic is probably worthwhile. When I blog, I usually like to hit a lot of different topics to keep from boring myself to death.
Lately I’ve been stuck on too few issues and I’m somewhat burned out.
