Dick Vitale sucks. Oh my God.

The past eight months were a respite. But I tuned into the MSU-Duke game tonight, and that recurring nightmare was back: Dick Vitale was calling the game on ESPN.

My hate for Dick Vitale is something special. Granted, I rant about a lot of things here on the jotsheet. I “hate” a lot of things—with “hate” in quotation marks. But I hate Dick Vitale. I fucking hate Dick fucking Vitale, man. This guy is a fucking douchebag extraordinaire. I’m actually having trouble writing this because I hate his sorry ass so much and it’s taking over my fingers and making it hard to type. But I will persevere.

Hollywood lands on “Bankrupt”: Pat Sajak calls out Tinseltown

When Pat Sajak, the game show host, is the only person in Hollywood with the balls to speak out against the Islamofascist killing of Theo van Gogh, you know that Tinseltown has truly lost all credibility and moral standing. If today’s cowardly, whiny actors believed in free speech and knew the true definition of censorship, they would express outrage. Instead, their silence condemns them.

Hey Barbra, you do a lot of yappin’; how come you’ve been so quiet on this, hmm?

Proud member of the Reality-Based Community

Whoops, did I say Reality-Based Community? Damn typos. I’m a member of the Reality-Based Majority. I forgot that “community” is PC-speak for minority; too bad that in an election, “minority” equals “group of losers.”

Movable Type: Content management system first, blogging second

It’s common misconception that Movable Type is for blogging only. In truth, it’s a lightweight content management system (CMS) that’s primarily used for blogging. And out of the box, it is indeed configured for blogging, but that doesn’t stop an enterprising user from tailoring it to his CMS needs.

The “MT as CMS” idea was probably first cogently presented by Brad Choate, but the best post I’ve found on the subject is from Elizabeth Lane Lawley: mt as content management software. Because it took me far too long to find that page, I figured I’d blog it for your benefit and mine, should I ever need it again for future MT evangelism.

Cell phone jammer

Power to the people, I say! Let us restore civility to the restaurants! Let us bring quiet to the trains! Let us put an end to the yapping and yammering in the waiting rooms! I present to you: the portable, rechargeable, handheld, divinely crafted, cell phone jammer! (Indeed, my prayers are answered.)

If you are some sort of ridiculous nerd, I guess you can build the jammer yourself. On the other hand, you could lock yourself in a roomed lined in magnetic wood.

Scion TC gas mileage

The gas mileage on my 2005 Scion TC seems not to be meeting the manufacturer’s spec. I’ve got 3000 miles on it, so it should be fairly well broken in, although it may improve a bit with time. I just calculated the city gas mileage at 19.3 mpg, but the car is rated at 23/30. Has anyone else experienced this poor performance? What are you getting on the highway?

UPDATE 12/18/04: Getting 24.7 mpg on the highway. Not horrible, but it sure ain’t 30.

Overlawyered: Lord, grant us tort reform

I decided some time ago that if I were elected President of the United States of the America, the first thing I’d do would be to bitch-slap this country’s trial lawyers and drop in some serious tort reform. I suspect the folks over at Overlawyered.com have the same agenda.
