The misspelling disease is spreading

Spelling errors piss me off. I’ve already complained about the remarkably poor copy editing at the Associated Press. Now ESPN.com has caught the bug.

Unpardonable misspelling 2004-06-13 ESPN.com home page

Flyed? What is this, a third grade spelling test? A simple check of Dictionary.com yields the following:

7. past tense and past participle flied (fld) Baseball. To hit a fly ball.

I blame it on the public schools.

:) it is the very known problem. For example: In the ongoing quest to find great deal on eBay or even to find items you can flip, one of the interesting approaches is by looking for misspelled items. One of the most common misspellings was ?labtop? for ?laptop?. This misspelling is so common that some people listing laptops actually use the word ?labtop? in their title. Check it out :)) . just used the See Misspelling or Bad Spelling link. Funny thing is that this is the worst example of bad writing that I’ve seen in a while.
