Hello,
I was very disappointed yesterday (6/1/04) that the CTA made no attempt to
accommodate the increased traffic on the Red Line for the Cubs Game. I
waited nearly 25 minutes to board a train at Grand, and I’m sure that
other, more claustrophobic would-be passengers waited quite a bit longer.
As it was, I rode in the most crowded train I’ve ever seen.
This is obviously the result of poor planning. The CTA is aware of Cubs
night games and should make a concerted effort to addressed the increased
passenger traffic. Running the Puple Line with a stop at Addison is one
option. Another option is running Red Line Addision Expresses and Red
Line Non-Addison trains. The latter option would address the fact that
many passengers ride from downtown to Fullerton or Belmont, while many
Cubs fans ride from further south to further north (Addison).
It is simply not acceptable for the Red Line to run once every 10 minutes
at 5:30 p.m. It’s even more unacceptable when only two people can get on
the train at each stop. You must plan better.
Regards,
Tom Sherman
