Status check

The jotsheet has become a tad too impersonal for my tastes, what with discussions of Perl scripts, Apache directory indexes, and other random geeky things. Time to take a step back and do a status check on the mundane life of Tom.

Things are pretty good. Work is busy. I’m playing a big role in our new Web application, which I think is an über-cool application. We provide XML TV listings to open source software developers for free. Sweet, eh?

Apart from work, I’m concentrating on not living my life crappily. That means eating healthily, exercising, and getting enough sleep. As to the sleep thing—well, I’m not always successful with that, but I went to sleep at 8:00 pm last night! Now there’s something I won’t be able to do as a tied-down, married-with-kids man, so I’d guess I’d better enjoy the flexibility of bachelorhood while it lasts. (The lameness of the fact that I’m talking about getting to sleep more because I’m unmarried is not lost on me, by the way.)

Wait a minute. Why I am talking about marriage? I don’t even have a girlfriend! Maybe it’s this silly bit about living in the Real World™ now with other Working Stiffs™, most of whom are older, wiser, and much more married than myself. But yes, I think maturity is slowly creeping up on me, although I’m still prone to bouts of extreme annoyingness. Just ask Julia.

Hmm. I think this was a rather pointless entry, but maybe that’s the point. Time to relax a bit, distance myself from silly things like health insurance and 401k plans, and write self-absorbed, rambling crap on a website. Looovely.
