I hate and will always hate Michigan
Came across an interesting article today. Seems a chap by the name of Joe Fulwiler went through the NCAA football rankings over the past 10 years to see which teams were most overrated (as determined by the distance between their pre- and postseason rankings). The most overrated team? You guessed it. The Michigan Wolverines. (Actually, you might’ve guessed Notre Dame, but don’t forget: they’re shitty now.)
Figures, don’t it? I mean, heck, I love Keith Jackson, but you’d think that old codger was about to dance a jig every time he heard the Michigan fight song. Them boys are all about name recognition.
In point of fact, however, I’d say that Texas is actually the bigger underachiever. They consistently get the best recruiting classes in the country, only to get stomped by Oklahoma or Nebraska or Colorado or somebody and come nowhere near the national championship. Hey, blame it on Mackovic, right?
And speaking of, Illinois checks in at #13 of the underrated teams. Small consolation in light of this season.
