Give a liberal a hug
This entry will contain no hard facts, no statistics, no polls, none of that. It’s just my observations, and it will be short.
I don’t know how it feels to be a liberal, but from the high-pitched keening emanating all over the Net from the Left, it must feel terrible. Awful. Painful. Liberals are churning inside. We need a new social program to buy them a collective Pepcid AC. It’s sad, I tell you. I’m not mad at these Very Angry Liberals™—I pity them.
Can liberals laugh? I haven’t seen one able to kick back, relax, and down a cold beer in a while. Liberals today are absolutely tortured by a self-righteous assurance that they’re right, dammit, and no one’s listening to them. It’s giving them ulcers.
Well, with the Holiday Season (not the Christmas Season! The Left has trained me well!) right around the corner, remember a liberal. They’re hurting inside. It’s tough for ‘em. They want to cry. So if you see ragtag lefty with a bandanna on his head and a tear running down his cheek, give him a hug. Pat him on the shoulder. Give him a Jolly Rancher.
Because he’ll have 4 more after 2004, motherfucker.

Wow — “motherfucker” — that’s pretty strong.
Well, just for the sake of self-defense, I’m a liberal. And I most certainly laugh & smile and joke around (and have done so over many a beer).
So, maybe you could refrain from lumping us all in one basket, based upon some of the more “high-pitched” representatives amongst us, and just look upon as those with differing political ideals.
It’s all relative, anyway. Yes, I’d love to see a Democrat elected to the presidency in ‘04. And I will vote so when the time comes. Do I think it’ll actually happen? No. But things like this come & go. We’ll continue to have back & forth periods in the years to come, just like we always have. Republicans/conservatives will rule the roost for the awhile, and then they will fall out of favor for a time, and it will be Democrats/liberals in power for awhile. And then it will switch back again.
So on and so forth.
That still doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t worry about what goes on *now*, and stand up for the things we believe in. But it’s just a good idea to keep it all in perspective.
Just curious, since I am “liberal”, do you think all of those things of me that you said in your post? You “pity” me?
And, since I am “liberal”, should I take the “motherfucker” to be directed at myself, as well as others of my ilk? If so, then that’s a big old NOT COOL, bro.
I think we can calm down and rationally admit that there are uptight, ulcer-suffering, self-righteous people on BOTH sides of the fence. I could rattle-off conservatives who are like that, but that would take all day, and we all know who they are.
Anyway, while you’re calling a whole group of people pitiful and motherfuckers, I’ll just say:
Happy Thanksgiving.
