T-F’ING-THREE
Two apocalyptic movies in a five hour span? Whew. First I watched The Sum of All Fears on DVD, which was pretty good, despite the presence of Ben Affleck. FYI: Affleck (a.k.a. “gorilla in a velour track suit”) prefers to be known these days as Bennifer, an issue described in greater detail in this article at Whatever-Dude.com.
Ok, but enough of that. I saw Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines tonight (opening night!) and it friggin ROCKED. Holy shit! Dude, it was even better than T2. The TX chick was hot (though ultimately inferior to T-2000, I think, because she’s just not as robot-like and scary) and the fight scenes were quite a thrill. The best part, though, was the development of some fairly intriguing ideas about the future and whether it is fixed or malleable. For me, it was action with a dash of philosphy—the way The Matrix could be if it weren’t constantly fellated by a bunch of geeky losers.
