A rarity

Hung out with Dad and Cindy tonight. Cindy brought an unexpected feast of ribs, corn on the cob, potato salad, and baked beans from Famous Dave’s, which we chowed on during the Kansas-Arizona game. Then Dad and I watched boxing: first the strange David Tua-Hasim Rahman fight (scored a draw although it was definitely won by Rahman), then the pathetic spectacle of the Bernhard Hopkins-Morrade Hakkar headliner. Hakkar, a Frenchman, did his country proud by first running around the ring for round 1 and landing zero (0) punches, then quitting (quitting) after the eighth round. Pathetic stuff. But entertaining nonetheless.

My stepbrother, Tim (21), is out in the Mediterranean somewhere on a ship awaiting the order to go to Iraq. He’s a sniper and some sort of technician in Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) warfare. If you didn’t think our boys fighting out there are young, look at those guys right. Just look.

Switching gears. This has been on my mind for quite some time, and I feel bad about it. A while ago, I rather carelessly posted some comments critical of my ex-girlfriend, Anna Marie. I didn’t really intend to make her angry, but it was impermissibly naive on my part not to know it would piss her off. It did piss her off, and incidentally, some off her friends too (heh).

But I guess I’m not really telling the whole story. When we broke up, things were fine. It wasn’t negative. It might’ve been weird or abrupt, but it wasn’t negative, and my opinion of her wasn’t negative. Things have changed since then, I must confess. My opinion of her is somewhat negative now, and not necessarily for good reasons. Right after the break-up, I think it was about convenience, and later, it was about my disdain for what I think is bad judgment on her part. Neither are good reasons. She does not deserve to be ill-treated by me, nor does she deserve to have insulting shit about her posted on my site.

So basically, I think what I’d like to say is that I’m sorry.

Look what I found! ESPN.com without that ugly flash bullshit and advertising!
