psst.. this blog is on hiatus.

i fucking HATE moving

i despise moving. today, i moved.

it took forever. Ben, Ben’s dad, and i moved all the shit from my old apartment to our new place. we moved a lot of the crap “immigrant style” (Ben’s term”) — basically, i just put stuff in garbage bags. livin’ in style, movin’ in style.

the new place is nice, but it wasn’t fucking clean. considering that Ben and i spent an eternity cleaning my old place, it’s even more irksome. the floors were obviously dirty, and the cleaning people that Parliament did have in there were pretty fuckin worthless. rest assured, we are drafting a very nasty letter to our new landlords.

ah yes, i was also stung by a bee. i’m allergic to bee stings, so we went to Evanston Memorial Hospital. now today was Sunday, and basically, it seems that that the service at Evanston Memorial on Sundays is basically akin to Third World refugee camps. ok, perhaps an overstatement, but it took more than 2 hours before i saw a real doctor. of course, had i gone into anaphylactic shock, i would’ve been dead by then. oh yes, it was quite comforting when the doctor told me 2.5 hours after being stung, “well, usually people go into shock within an hour.” that’s quality triage, baby.

and it wouldn’t fucking end. after the hospital shenanigans, we had MORE to do. ugh. i couldn’t get a bookcase into my car, so i stuck it in the shadows by a building, and some prowling dumpster diver snatched that piece of crap up before i came back to get it. now that’s bush league, man.

oh wow. it wouldn’t fucking end. thank God it’s over.

other things i learned today:

  • Ben must love picante sauce
  • college students like Miller Lite (but i’m a far more mature beer drinker than that)
  • working hard makes me feel about 8 times tougher when i’m just walking around
  • “good from afar, but far from good”
  • middle-aged women must not understand what those white back-up lights mean when you put your car in reverse
  • garbage bags are useful

and, on the bright side: free digital cable and free phone service! (and who knows, maybe we’re receiving cable internet too!)
