the first real day of summer
soon i will write a nice, tidy wrap-up of the school year. right now, though, i don’t think i have the mental distance from the events of the year to put them in a good perspective, and i want the summary to be good.
today, my first day back, was quite a productive one. sometimes i have the tendency to slip into little periods of languishing uselessness, especially after a quarter of school, but i’d like to avoid that this time. i’ve got things to do. i need to help my sis, read a book or two, write, and code.
a few days ago, the Evanston meter-hoes gave me a ticket for an expired license plate. kind of a strange thing to do, since there’s often a good reason for people to have expired plates, and that’s why cops usually give you the chance to explain why yours are expired. when you give someone a parking ticket for it, though, you obviously deny them that ability. well, what else would you expect from a city that gets a cool million a year in parking fines?
well, i wasn’t gonna take that shit lying down, so i went to the C-U DMV and got me a printout saying my registration was current. they also said they’d send me new plates and stickers for free. it was the best experience i’ve ever had at the DMV, and the chick behind the counter was hot to boot (yeah, an attractive DMV employee — i’ve seen it all now). side note: the DMV is an absolutely fascinating place. what a cross-section of humanity you get there.
