wooooooohoooo! whew! what a sports weekend!
first and foremost, the damn Yankees lost! thank God! now we’re spared months of sappy rhetoric about how a Yankees world championship “lifted the spirits of New York in its time of need.” oh, thank you thank you thank you, D’Backs.
and then there’s the can’t-believe-your-fucking-eyes Bears comeback against the Browns. it pains me to say this, but i missed it. ALL of it! why? well, i got so disgusted with the Bears pathetic play through 57 minutes of the game that i turned it off. they then proceeded to score a touchdown with 28 seconds left, get an onsides kick, score a “hail mary” touchdown, and return an interception for the second week in a row for a touchdown (thanks Mike Brown!). what can i say?
so basically, i think that i’m at the peak of my sports fan-ness right now. the Illini football team is 7-1 and tied with Michigan (grr) for first place in the Big Ten. the Illini basketball team is preseason #1/#2. the Bears are rolling, and the Yankees lost. yessss
