6:30 p.m.: just had a very strange experience. i’m sitting in a towel at the computer, about to go take a shower, and someone buzzes my apartment. now i wasn’t expecting anyone, and no one ever buzzes my apartment. in addition, we’ve been warned by the building manager not to buzz people in if we’re not expecting anyone, because this is the way that our homeless man gets in and parks his ass in the basement. (oh, i should mention — there’s no intercom.)

well anyway, i buzz the person in. while he/she is coming up the stairs, i frantically get some clothes on. there’s a knock at the door. it’s a cop. a COP? i open the door, and the cop tells me i’m about to have my car towed. huh? evidently, a movie shoot (?! in evanston?!) is going to take place on my street. ohhhhh, so THAT explains those temporary “no parking” signs that have been along my street. hm. maybe that means i shouldn’t have parked on my street.

today, like yesterday, i didn’t do the homework i should have, screwed around, watched TV, got on the Internet, and partied at night. yesterday it was some party on Ridge, a theater fundraiser. Ben and i went, and because i was wearing a very prominent Illinois sweatshirt, i got the bright idea of pretending that I was from the U of I. only problem was, i knew some people there, so it was hard to pretend. but anyway, Ben and i were talking to this one chick for a while, then we got separated, and later on, she sees me and says, “you suck, you don’t go to the U of I.” i laughed and said, “yep.”

for a long time, Ben and i talked to Tina, who i knew from a philosophy freshman seminar, and some chick named Robin from Women’s Co. the Robin chick was pretty sassy, even bitchy, but i tolerated it, because i was pretty tipsy and feeling good. then, when i woke up this morning, i felt like kind of an idiot, because i don’t like to take shit from anyone, no matter who it is. but oh well. it was a fun night.

tonight, i went to the Frances Willard Birthday Party, where NU pretends to be a state school. it was cute. along with Dillo Day, it’s an opportunity for Northwestern to do its best impression of the U of I. i hung out with the Republican gang and their Willard friends, including Tony, Nick, Russ, and Mary. Adele made a cameo.

the thing that really pissed me off was the dancing. it left me in a foul mood for the rest of the night. it was really hot and crowded, which is fine, but everyone was pushing each other, elbowing, and being overall klutzes/assholes. then, when we started a mini-mosh pit, i got pushed HARD in the back by someone who wasn’t even in the pit. i crashed into a bunch of other people, and then they fell on me. i got up and said “WHO THE FUCK PUSHED ME?” but no one would say who. yeah, state school, suuuure.
